lucky dress number four

I had picked out my dream wedding dress. This is a moment every passionate & avid shopper anticipates.

I went shopping for the dress in November 2016, preparation for our marriage in September 2017.  I previously was constantly creeping Anthropologie’s wedding line, BHLDN, any chance I could get. The dresses are perfectly my style. BHLDN does not carry your typical cheesy/ugly beading/poofy/basic wedding dress. They are not the (mostly) hideous, expensive dresses I usually see on Say Yes to the Dress. Okay, so I’m being a little dramatic & insensitive, but it pains me to see a bad wedding dress! I see it all too often. The styles at BHLDN are boho chic, ethereal & exquisite, and the best part is that they are affordable.

I gathered the women in my family together in NYC on black Friday. We picked up a few brown sugar lattes & prepared for a long hour of dress shopping.

Despite the New York streets, BHLDN was pleasantly quiet and calm. I walked in and immediately was in love: the decor, the aura, the smell, the dresses. I knew I would find my dress here, but I just didn’t know how painlessly easy it would be.

Our wedding was in Bedford, NH. Our ceremony & reception was held at my parent’s house.

I was initially a little worried about the short time limit of our one-hour appointment, but it wasn’t an issue. I picked out a few dresses (with the help of my sisters & mom, of course) and also asked for the ones I had requested prior to the appointment. I recommend trying at least one you aren’t fully interested in. You will be pleasantly surprised.

After gathering a handful, I started with the two-piece I thought for sure was mine. The sample was a little beat & actually looked awful on me. That was dress number one. The second dress I tried on was beautiful. It was a grecian style dress that fell close to the body. Our stylist added a belt and I was in ‘like’ with it, so not enough to say yes. The third dress was pretty as well, but I feel like I’ve seen this a lot on other brides. The fourth dress I had not initially noticed while stalking the website. I put it on and immediately was in love. This dress was so me. I walked out and knew from the reaction of my family that I would be walking down the aisle in this. I tried on a fifth dress to confirm that the previous was the one. Indeed it was.

A quick form to fill out & a clink to the champagne cans and I was done shopping for the dress. It arrived at my parent’s house within a few days & the shipping was free. I won’t lie to you, the dress sat in the box for a LONG time. So ladies, don’t you worry about last minute dress shopping because BHLDN has you covered. They do not have alterations in house, but it wasn’t an issue to bring it to a referred tailor.

When I removed it from the box some couple months before the big day, it was even more beautiful than I remembered. Most likely because the samples I tried on at the store are a little worn in & loved. ♥

A good friend who is getting married next year recently scheduled an appointment at BHLDN & sent me pictures from her visit. I was envious. Envious because it was such a fun and exciting moment in my life. You only have one dress (hopefully) you walk down the aisle in! Make it match your personality & style.
